Today, January 10th 2012, is the early registration deadline for the Sustainable Learning Centre’s (SLC) “Integrating ISO 26000 into your Management Systems” Workshop. Space is limited, but if you register today you can save $100.

ISO 26000 is intended for large or small companies from any industry, for the public sector and for the third sector. In this course you will learn how ISO 26000 provides practical guidance to the standard measurement and operationalization of Social Responsibility within your company and your supply chain.

There are many good reasons to attend this workshop:

-The EU is adopting ISO 26000 as a standard for companies operating and selling in the region. In Europe, ISO 26000 is one of 3 documents recommended by the European Commission as guidance for European enterprises.

-ISO 26000 is probably the most inclusive sustainability standard in sustainability: GRI, Global Compact, OECD & 80 countries developed it.

-The environmental section addresses the precautionary approach and environmental risk management, and is concerned with the promotion of substantive performance in the areas of sustainable procurement, the adoption of environmentally sound technologies and control of climate change impacts.

-ISO 26000 is being embedded in national codes of practice, and sustainability reports around the world. In Italy the Italian Workers Compensation Authority – is promoting ISO 26000 as a means of obtaining economic incentives.

-Hotels and cleaning companies are using the ISO 2600 core subjects to structure their CSR policy. Companies in Japan are embeding the seven core subjects in their sustainability report.

Join Cooper Standard Automotive, the City of Ottawa, NSF International, Houston Port Authority, Stantec and others in this hands-on program that shows you how social responsibility can be embedded in your management systems.

Subject Matter Expert: Sandra Tavares, Tavares Group Consulting and member of the Canadian Advisory Committees on Environmental Management and Social Responsibility.

Special Guest Speaker: Karen Clarke-Whistler, Chief Environmental Officer, TD Bank Financial Group.
