Update on the Green Schools and the Community College Summits (Events)

As reviewed in an August 13th post, the Green Market Oracle is proud to be an outreach partner for Green Schools and Community College Summits and Expo. Both the Community College Summit and the Green California Schools Summit emphasize innovations in technology, policy and
practice.  Organizers expect approximately 3000 to attend the combined summits. These two events will take place concurrently on September 27-28, 2012 in Pasadena, California. It is fitting that this event is taking place in the state that is on the leading edge of the green schools movement and the home of the nation’s first green building rating program for K-12
schools.

The Green California Schools Summit  is one of the nation’s largest
annual green school events. The Summit is a gathering of those involved
in the greening of California’s schools – from facility
managers, finance officers, teachers and administrators to architects,
engineers
and curriculum developers.

California’s community colleges are the largest network of higher education in the nation. They are essential to
green jobs, green businesses, green building, energy management and
resource conservation. Programs in California’s community colleges offer hands-on
exposure to new technologies and provide local communities with models of
sustainability.

A wide array of experienced stakeholders are participating in the Community College Summit including the Keynote speaker
Kelly Meyer, CA State Architect Chet Widom, and Board of Governors CA Community College member Henry A.J. Ramos .

Continuing education credits are offered for AIA, Build It Green, CMAA, and ICC for both events.

On Friday September 28 there will be a day long workshop of the Green Curriculum Institute that focuses on the Education and Environment Initiative (EEI) materials.

Readers of the Green Market Oracle will receive a 20% discount if they enter the code GRMARKET (all caps) when registering.
