Video – Global Warming is Melting Ice and Raising Sea Levels

The science is clear, the planet is warming and our waters are rising. With the help of satellites, lasers, radar in space, and researchers on the ground, NASA and other research organizations have clearly demonstrated that the seas are rising. If all the ice on Earth were to melt sea levels would rise by 75 meters. Scientists known that global warming is already melting ice around the world, particularly at the poles, in addition to climate impacts this will raise sea levels. Very rapid sea level rises, three to four times as fast as current rates are expected if we continue on our current trajectory.

Sea level can rise for two reasons, both linked to a warming planet. When ice on land, such as mountain glaciers or the ice sheets of Greenland or Antarctica, melt, that water contributes to sea level rise. And when our oceans get warmer – another indicator of climate change – the water expands, also making sea level higher.
