Clean Energy Can Replace Fossil Fuels

The era of clean energy is dawning as the time for fossil fuels is running out. One of the leading arguments for fossil fuels is that cleaner forms of energy cannot hope to replace carbon intensive power. However, alternative sources of power like solar and wind are proving themselves to capable of replacing dirty forms of energy.

A few years ago the transition to clean energy was seen as a pipe dream, we now know that this dream is becoming a reality. The transition to clean energy is already underway, the only question is how long it will take. Some say we will eliminate the widespread use of fossil fuels in a couple of decades while others believe it will take more than half a century.

Not only is this happening, it is and will happen without the massive expense that some have predicted.

“We now know that catastrophic climate change can be averted without sacrificing living standards. The IPCC WGIII report concludes the transformation required to a world of clean energy and the ditching of dirty fossil fuels is eminently affordable.” 350.org wrote in a statement. “[T]he [IPCC] report states that diverting hundreds of billions of dollars from fossil fuels into renewable energy and cutting energy waste would shave just 0.06 percent off expected annual economic growth rates of 1.3 percent to 3 percent. Moreover, the analysis did not include the benefits of cutting greenhouse gas emissions, which could outweigh the costs. The benefits include reducing air pollution and improved energy security.”

Renewable energy can replace fossil fuels and power our world. It can also drive the economy, create jobs, and give us cleaner air that will improve public health.

Most importantly the transition away from fossil fuels to clean energy is our best chance of curtailing the worst impacts of climate change.
