This event will take place on October 7 – 8, 2014 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, NJ. AWEA Offshore WINDPOWER 2014 Conference & Exhibition is the largest offshore wind energy event in North America. With projects in advanced stages of development, lease auctions in several states, and additional government funding for advanced technology demonstration projects, the U.S. offshore wind energy industry is picking up speed and momentum.

Keynote address

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell to deliver keynote address
We’re excited to welcome U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell as Keynote Speaker, who will address the progress that has been made in advancing offshore wind in the U.S. As Secretary of the Interior, Jewell leads an agency with more than 70,000 employees. Interior serves as steward for approximately 20 percent of the nation’s lands, including national parks, national wildlife refuges, and other public lands; oversees the responsible development of conventional and renewable energy supplies on public lands and waters; is the largest supplier and manager of water in the 17 Western states; and upholds trust responsibilities to the 566 federally recognized American Indian tribes and Alaska Natives.

Display materials

Educational posters will be displayed on the exhibit floor. Poster authors will be at their posters during the Poster Reception, Tuesday, October 7, 5:15 pm – 6:15 pm. Take advantage of this opportunity to speak to the authors about their poster presentations. Check out the winning posters of the Poster Contest decided by a panel of judges and marked with a big ribbon!

AWEA booth

During the conference, attendees can stop by the AWEA booth at designated times to connect with representatives from Siemens Wind Power Americas and Alstom, who will be available to answer your questions. Also, join the University of Delaware at the AWEA booth on October 7, 3:15 – 3:45 PM ET, for the panel Transmission and Integration into PJM.

Opening General Session Speaker

Collin O’Mara, President & CEO, National Wildlife Federation. Collin O’Mara joined National Wildlife Federation, America’s oldest and largest wildlife conservation and education organization, as President and CEO on July 7, 2014.

Featured Session

Closing General Session: DOE Advanced Technology Demonstration Project Initiative
Earlier this year at WINDPOWER 2014, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced which offshore projects would proceed to Phase 2 of the Offshore Wind Advanced Technology Demonstration: Fishermen’s Energy Atlantic City Windfarm, Principle Power Windfloat, and Dominion Virginia Power. Senior representatives from each organization have joined AWEA Offshore WINDPOWER 2014 Conference & Exhibition to discuss the initiative and the progress of offshore wind energy in the United States.
