The inaugural Ryerson Talk, “Top 10 Lessons I’ve Learned as a Sustainability Professional” will take place on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM at 55 Dundas St W
Toronto, Ontario. The talk will be delivered by Frances Edmonds Director of Environmental Sustainability, Hewlett Packard and Cara Commons, Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University

Frances Edmonds is a sustainability trailblazer. As the Director of Environmental Sustainability at Hewlett Packard (HP) Canada, she has been advancing sustainability at one of the country’s largest IT solutions providers for close to 2 decades. It’s a position that she personally created when she got started there and continues to define on a daily basis. Her journey to where she is today hasn’t been an easy one, however.

In addition to overcoming the obstacles that a woman must face in a male-dominated industry, she has steadfastly challenged a “business as usual” status quo. She believes that there should be, and can be, sustainability in all jobs; a billion decisions being made every minute, in every industry, for greater sustainability.

Frances’ experience has led her to understand that there are some common hurdles that every sustainability-inclined professional will face in their career, and she intends to make sure they don’t make the same mistakes. She will be sharing the top 10 things she has learned as a (trailblazing) sustainability professional.

Agenda

6:00-6:45pm – Coming together and networking.
6:45-7:15pm – Introductions (organizers & participating student groups)
7:15-8:00pm – Presentation & Q&A
8:00-9:30pm – Networking reception Networking Opportunities

Immediately before the presentations begin, and following the presentations, there will opportunities for networking. It will be a great opportunity to meet sustainability professionals and students of all stripes.
