Event – Carbon Underground 2016 Conference

This event will take place in Costa Rica in September. The four day conference will include both classroom elements and real-world demonstrations. All of this will be filmed and made part of a larger curriculum being developed for online education that will made available to the public.

In 2015 The Carbon Underground co-produced (along with Mercola, Organic Consumers Association, Finca Luna Nueva and Regeneration International) a first-of-its-kind conference that brought together experts, NGOs, and business leaders from 23 countries. The result of the 3 day event in Costa Rica was not simply a sharing of information but the creation of regional and global partnerships aimed at restoring and maintaining healthy soil.

In September 2016 The Carbon Underground, again partnering with Organic Consumers Association, Finca Luna Nueva, Regeneration International and Mercola, will be gathering experts and educators to offer a program to teach students about regenerative farming and ranching.

The world-class faculty will include, among others:

Dr. Kris Nichols: Chief Scientist at the Rodale Institute and formerly a soil scientist with the ARS/USDA.

Dr. David Johnson and Hui Chun: Faculty at New Mexico State University and experts in compost systems that optimize food production and carbon sequestration.

Dr. Tim LaSalle: former CEO of the Rodale Institute, President of the Agriculture Education Foundation and Professor at California Polytechnic University.

John Liu: Rothamstead International Fellow, associate professor at the George Mason University, and Senior Research Fellow at the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Reginaldo Haslett-Marroquin: Main Street Project.

Chris Kerston: Director of Events and Public Outreach at the Savory Institute.

Dr. Cynthia Daley: Director of the Organic Dairy Program at Chico State.

Andre Leu: President of International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) who has published extensively on organic agriculture relating to climate change, the environment, and the health benefits organic agronomy.

Ronnie Cummins: Ronnie Cummins is co-founder and International Director of the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) and its Mexico affiliate Via Organica.
