INSTRUCTOR

Gustavo Grande, the Director of Programs, The Idea Center at Miami Dade College Gustavo is the Lead Instructor of Entrepreneurship for The Idea Center. Over the years he has worked with numerous startups and established businesses from all industries in the process of lean startup and strategic planning. Prior to this, he was a business development consultant and an entrepreneur in the logistics industry. Gustavo holds an MBA from Hult International Business School with an emphasis on International Business and Social Entrepreneurship. His mission is to support students and community members make their visions come to life through the development of their entrepreneurial mindset and sense of social responsibility using a human-centered approach and systems-thinking methods to address real-life challenges.

ABOUT IMPACT MIAMI

Impact Miami is a Business Model Validation Lab for early-stage, local entrepreneurs who are tackling social and environmental challenges. The lab is designed to do one thing: provide entrepreneurs with a step-by-step methodology to rapidly and systematically validate their venture’s business model.

The early stages of a startup are marked with questions. Who is my customer? What problems do they have? Do I have a solution to their problems? What are they willing to pay? Will I be able to break even? An entrepreneur’s ability to quickly convert these questions into answers is one of the few characteristics that separates successful startups from failed ones.

The problem is that few entrepreneurs know the rapid and systematic approach required to answer these questions. They go too slow, they focus on the wrong things in the wrong order, and they move forward without truly validating a business model.
